Some Ways to Help AND BLATANT SELF-PROMO
Dear Readers,
I hope you’re all doing as OKish as possible under the current administration. It is almost unfathomable to me how morally bankrupt this administration is. Again and again I turn to community and I am grateful for it. I am grateful to you, reading this newsletter! I don’t know what else to say on this topic except that I swing between living in a constant state of brokenheartedness and refusing to live in a constant state of brokenheartedness because it isn’t fair to give them my whole self too. I don’t know! I will share resources and ways to help whenever I have them. And if you are finding ways to help in and/or beyond your community, I would always love to read about them in the comments. Sometimes it is so easy to want to help and so difficult to figure out exactly how. I love being shown ways to do the thing.

Ohhhhkay so now the song and dance about PREORDERING MY BOOK because I really thought when everything was nightmarish and dystopian that I would be wearing like a utilitarian-style jumpsuit that might even accidentally be a little fashionable and gay, and assigned a role like “watering seeds” or whatever people in their 40s do in the Hunger Games? Anyway it turns out that you can feel like you’re watching society collapse and you keep going to your job and trying to get people to preorder your book. OK!
Barnes & Noble even has a sale going on RIGHT NOW for all preorders! If you are a member, from now through the end of Friday, July 11 you can get In Her Spotlight for 25 percent off! AMAZING!
I will be in Columbus THIS VERY WEEKEND for the Columbus Book Festival! If you are there I would LOVE to see you, so please say hi!
xoxoAmy

Rewatching
Sinners is now streaming and I loved it just as much the second time around.
Cooking
This creamy corn pasta is a perfect summer recipe!! (That said I’ve now made it with both fresh corn and frozen corn and… fresh is a lot better, if you’ve got the time and inclination. And, of course, the corn.)
Snacking
I feel like everyone else already knows about Dot’s Pretzels but if you, like me, had not heard of them, I am here to tell you they are DEEPLY DELICIOUS.
Reading
I went to an event the other night for Maris Kreizman’s I Want to Burn This Place Down and now I am even more excited to read it.
Links Roundup
Things I’ve read lately!
What Happens after AI Destroys College Writing? — I loved this nuanced and thoughtful piece from Hua Hsu, whose work I always love.
Amateur Hour — I’ve been thinking A LOT about the place research holds in writing lately, but this piece by Brandon Taylor also gets into a thing I think about ALL THE TIME which is what happens when you learn to do a thing you assumed you were bad at and seemingly like magic you learn to do.**
Events & Books!

I have nothing to type here, alas.
