Normally I am a big fan of fall
Dear Readers,
Happy Halloween to you and yours!
I have gotten multiple texts and IN PERSON CONVERSATIONS today about how generally anxious everyone feels. Personally I am exhausted with feeling like the world is about to end every four years but I guess this is what I get for living through history!!! I have not voted yet, however, I am going to vote soon. The system does its best to make us feel like so much doesn’t matter and is beyond our control (AND SO MUCH OF IT IS NOT UP TO US I KNOW) but I still believe in voting. I urge you to vote! I will obviously even say that unlike certain editorial boards I am very willing to urge you to vote for Kamala Harris, who of course isn’t a perfect candidate but I think is our best shot at present to move us forward. Of course I’d like more progressive policies in about a thousand different categories but there’s just no comparison.
Anyway even with the general anxiety circling me and many around me — plus the specific anxiety of just having turned in a book and therefore 1) waiting for notes and also 2) not having a little project to focus my little brain into — it is indeed still fall. I have had pumpkin muffins and beverages. I have had more dirty chais than I have in awhile (to be frank with you, due to a weird situation, yesterday in fact I had three dirty chais). I turned on my oven while my stovetop was on and did not fear! I went to a soup party!
